ARE YOU AN ASPIRING FASHION DESIGNER IN/AROUND PORTSMOUTH, NH?!
You are in luck! Over the past month, MAD-X has created a 6 week intensive fashion design course curated for aspiring fashion designers focused on developing their portfolios & learning about the industry. Over the winter break, we helped a local student apply to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City(photographs of our photoshoot featuring her final garments shown below). During that process, we realized how little resources there are in Maine & New Hampshire to learn about fashion illustration & garment construction. For high schoolers looking to apply to the big fashion schools like FIT, Parsons(The New School) & Marist, prospective students are required to construct custom clothing pieces as well as illustrate various designs changing based on each schools individual application along with their standard application. Our hope is that this course will make this process much smoother & will help local creatives get the chance to see if this career is something that may be right for them. The MAD-X Design Intensive will give teens an invaluable resource to gain insight from someone with a Bachelors degree in Fashion Design & Production as well as over 6 years of experience working in the fashion industry. DO NOT PASS THIS UP if you have ever been curious about making your own clothes or what it takes to work in fashion full time.
🧵 This course will take place in our personal apartment design studio in Portsmouth, NH.
🧵 Seeking students in their freshman year and above, either looking to currently apply to schools or find out if fashion design is the right career for them.
🧵 We will only be accepting 6 students total for this first intensive & sessions will be in groups of 3.
🧵 The studio sessions will be 5 hours long held every Monday/Tuesday
🧵 Students will be required to have a basic knowledge of machine sewing & will need to bring in their own sewing machine to class.
🧵 An open work space, pattern paper, muslin, dress forms, ironing essentials, and fashion rulers will be provided.
🧵 Each student will be guaranteed to leave this course with professional photographs of a garment they designed and constructed to submit with their design portfolios.
🧵 Each session will cost $250 or $1,500 for the entire course.
